Cat5 is cat5 but you will need to solder the ends on yourself in exactly the same config as the short cable you are using to test, you need a longer version of that basically.
I'd also recommend setting up order char links so you can have starters, mains etc on food docket

Thanks for that . I have 20 mtr cat cable already . Need to find a wiring diagram . Unless I can buy a 20mtr rs232 to parallel . All your advice and time has been appreciated.

One more question. Is it possible to put text on the kitchen printer . Example . Customer orders a dish but doesn't want any vegetables or sauce . Just plain fillet steak on its own ?
Had a read of the manual but can't see anything .
