Henry - why waste your time on this dinosaur? even if you finally make it work [and you wont] this till is so old it wont last you 6 months!
Bite the bullet and invest in something new. If you want something to last forever, go for a software till such as ICRTouch. You can move that from device to device as they fail.

Alternatively - theres quite a few nice rom based touch screens out there - such as the sam4 2200

the 5400 is a dead loss - trust me.
