Read about it. That's as far as I'll personally go explaining it. I recommend you buy the cable. If you read about RS232 technology it would make sense.

These are sort of trade secrets that's why you don't see a diagram anywhere.

The only pins I haven't covered are 1,4,6,7,8,9. 9 is always left empty so you only have 5 pins left to worry about.

I have a Sabre 1551E barcode scanner with Sabre cable 3-606031-03. I haven't as yet tried to connect the scanner as I am not sure if it is compatible with XEA307 cash register. I was wondering if any one is familiar with this configuration and whether I need a different cable/adapter or a separate power supply.

I have read other posts on scanner which give useful information. I want to check if anyone has any more information on this specific configuration and/or Sabre 1551E before start trying. Would appreciate any information you are able to share.
