Dx890 new machine on network
Hi not sure if anyone can help.
I've been asked to install a new second hand dx890 on a netwrok in a pub. There is no back office software running on the network.
I've just checked the eprom information on the engineer number on 1 of the old machines and the new one thats been purchased from ebay. They seem to have different version information on each machine. Will this be a problem if I try and send the plus and other information to this new machine????
Any help gratefully recieved
Billy
It all depends Billy
There are two bits of info you need to know when you find the eprom version
There is the flash version (ie DX890-06 V1.10) and there is the Boot Rom version (ie Boot 1.00 or 1.01 or 1.02)
If the Boot Rom versions are different then they will NOT be fully compatable on the network because there is a different memory map used
If it is just the Flash that is different then you will probably be ok!
Cheers
Wayne
Hi,
The previous post is half right, but...
If the versions of flash are different and you use the system for any floating/table billing operations, then it is likely that you will encounter problems (corrupt & missing bills/clerk errors/missing items for example)
It is possible (if the Boot Version is the same - the Bxxx.xxx version) to send the flash from machine to machine over a network, however the machine you send to will most likely have to be completely reprogrammed if you send it. There are a few steps involved in doing this - and a word of caution is that if you 'accidentally' send flash to a machine you didn't want to on the network it could completely wipe any sales information and programming stored in the machines memory) - so be very careful if you do it.
