Hi People
Can anyone tell me if there is a way ro replace the backlight on a PX6700?
Or a company that specialises in refurbishing the display boards?
There seem to be at least 2 flavours [as i have just replaced a full display from another Px]
One has an external/side mounted cold cathode tube, with an inverter mounted under the display support.
The original [faulty] screen seems to have no visible tube/bulb/led, though still has a drive board mounted where the inverter board was. Im guessing that there are surface mount leds or internal cc tube at the back of the lcd screen but im not brave enough to remove the screen from the board as my success rate with replacement is limited to say the least.

The faulty board manufacture date is june 2006 -
Thanks in advance
Andy

There are two distinct types as you say. We normally just replace the LCD, housing and stand all-in-one so that we don't get any problem with compatibility as the connection to the main board is always the same.

Six years seems to be the limit for CCFL tubes. All of the touch PC and cash register tubes I've replaced have been typically six years old. If the mobo doesn't die first, the backlight usually seals the machine's fate due to replacement cost of LCD panels or labour/ danger time to fit tubes. Whenever I see small retailers desperate to buy touch POS machines thinking they will somehow make their business fabulous, I warn them of the lower reliability since most have no idea that it won't last 15 years like their old brick of a register :)
