Transfer configuration from one Sharp register to another

Hello,

I work for a restaurant that wants to set up a new cash register. We're currently using a Sharp ER-A420.

The owners bought another register that's the same model with the belief that they could transfer the programming of the current register to a new one using an RS232 cable and a license key they purchased. They said they'd heard about this before, which is why they bought the same kind of register.

However, I'm still unclear - do I need to transfer the configuration from the first register to a PC and then on to the new register? The way it was described to me was connecting two registers together.

Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about, or any information / experience you could share to help me out, please?
