Hi, I have the cash register from Omron model # RS 3010E at my store and I need to change the tax rate on it in time for the June 1 rate increase. Unfortunately the manual is nowhere to be found. How do I go about doing this?

Thanks!
Esther

Hi Esther.
The 3010E is a special version of the 3010. In fact the main difference is the tax system. I have some extra info put away somewhere for these, so I'll have to dig it up (since they are around 22 years old now!)
Are you using one tax rate?
Does it show as tax1?
Are all of your item keys taxed at that rate?

thanks for the quick reply!

There is only one tax rate but I'm not sure if it's tax1. Would it say that on the receipt as tax1?

Ok. We should be able to find the P mode parameter by doing a read, and looking for the previous rate.

Turn the key to P mode.
20
X
SUBTOTAL

This should print a series of numbers.
Now keep doing this for all numbers up to 40, so

21
X
SUBTOTAL
22
X
SUBTOTAL

etc

finishing with
40
X
SUBTOTAL

then press
NS/#
to finish.

Turn the key back to REG mode.

Now look at the print out and near the 25 to 30 on the left, you should see your old tax rate to the right. It is a four digit rate, so if your tax was say 6.5% You would see 0650. If it was 12.25% you would see 1225. If you see it there, we can have a go at changing it. Don't worry if you are wrong, we can put the setting back again if it doesn't set the tax. see if you can find it.

We tried doing that but what x button are you talking about? I will upload a picture of the buttons later tonight. We tried hitting the "tx/ex" and it beeped, "x/z" also beeps. I know our current tax rate is at 7.375% and it will need to be changed to 8.125%.

Do you happen to have an extra copy of the manual? I would be willing to buy it from you. The register was inherited with the store when we bought it but the previous owner had lost the manual. I've searched online for copies but no one has them.... =(
