I double checked this morning and I was incorrect, the register is a UX-43. (I replaced it with the 40).

I have checked and there are no paper jams and no paper remnants in the paper path.

That would explain the display thing then. However, the only suggestion I get from Uniwell is relating to the printer, so it may be worth getting it checked out by your EPoS supplier (if you have one) as the print-head or one of the other components may well be faulty.

Sorry to not be of more help than that.

Definitely a printer issue. Really common on these old machines. Take the ribbon out and for want of a better word give the printer a good hard blow (shutting your eyes). Maybe spray in some WD40.

UX40's had a digital display the UX43 was virtually the same just with a 16 digit alpha display.

isnt this the message you get when the printer fuse blows on the main logic board? is the display slightly more dim than normal?
