My boss currently owns a couple of bars so we have a few spare TX-875 tills lying around, we are currently opening a trade counter selling security products cctv alarms etc, rather than buying a complete new system does anyone see any disadvantages to using this system and can assist in reprogramming it to more of this type of system.

There are, obviously, disadvantages - a PC-based system would have far more features, such as invoicing, A4 printing etc.

However, if it is purely about money, and you can survive with a machine that does what an 875 does, then simply set up groups, products etc as if it was a bar environment and you should be fine.
