Welcome to EpoS Wizard!
Uniwell UX-40
I bought one of these tills at a closing down sale, for use at a charity event, then found out it needed programmed! As you may have guessed I have no knowledge or experience of working with these kinds of machines.
The local Uniwell dealer Argyll Cash Register Systems was very good and did this for me FOC but I don't want to impose on their generosity by going back to them to ask for more free help, so I'd like to find out how to change product names and prices.
ACRS programmed it at my request with adjacent buttons for the same item (so the labels would be easier to read and the keys would be bigger for large clumsy fingers like mine) as we only had about 30 different items for sale, so I'm guessing that I will have two PLUs for each item?
Any help would be gratefully received...
Hi,
You won't have 2 PLUs for each key you will simply have the same PLU codes allocated to 2 different keys. There are a couple of things you will need in order to change the PLU descriptions and prices:
You will need to know the PLU numbers of your current PLUs, do you know these?
You will need to know where all the letter and number keys are in order to key in the new descriptions, this is normally underneith your current paper keyboard layout, do you have this?
With this information it is fairly simple to program.

From other posts on here I've been able to run an 88 report to identify the PLU numbers, but the instructions I found for changing text or prices don't work.
By way of an example, when I press the button for Diet Coke I get "Diet Coke £1.00" on the receipt, and from my 88 report I know that this item is on PLU 17.
Turn Key to SP
Key in 202
Press the X2 button
Key in the PLU number (17 in this example - and I'm using the number keypad for this)
Press . (decimal point)
At this point the display shows 00 00-00 and the A B C keys as shown on the keyboard overlay don't do anything. In fact, I can't find any button that works as an alphanumeric to allow me to change the name.
Hi,
That's strange, the only thing I can think is that it's setup to use keycodes instead of the alphanumeric keyboard. That would mean that you need to follow the exact same procedure but instead of keying in the new description as letters you would key them in as 2 digit codes as per this table:
So for example, the word BEER would be keyed in as follows:
35 38 38 51
I hope this makes sense, please try one and let me know if you are successful or not.

Fantastic! Thanks to your help I am now able to change the labels and the prices!
Without wanting to push my luck, can i ask for a little bit more info please?
Is there an easy way to change it to using the keyboard instead of the codes? If not, it's not a big thing, because we only use the till once a year!
When I press a spare key, a number appears on the display - is that the PLU?
If so, the spare keys are programmed in pairs above each other instead of alongside. Can this be changed?
Is it possible to assign a particular key to another PLU?
