UNIWELL TX-870 Programming Issues
Hi there!
I have recently picked up 3 Uniwell TX-870s for use in my funky new cool venue in Shoreditch, London which you are all welcome to come visit sometime!
I have managed to successfully program two of the three, the two black twins. But it is their older bastard grey brother that I'm having trouble with. Firstly, I have no idea what the manager code is. I have worked out some of the clerk numbers, 11, 111, 222, 333, 444, 555, 666, 777, 1234 (last one is named "Stocktaker" - how does that work?) but no idea what the manager code is thus no way to reprogram the PLU's, touch screen etc. So, Q1 is what is the manager code normally? Its not 20 I've established that. Its not 555 or 1234 either! Q2 is what is Stocktaker mode? How does that work?
Q3 is how do I rewire the drawer? I have a new till drawer with an RJ11 plug and the grey TX-870 has an old style orange socket on it. I have gotten hold of an original orange plug and now I am ready to sever the wire on the drawer and attach the new old plug. But the RJ11 has six wires, (l-r, from underneath white black red green yellow blue) and the old style plug has only four, black, red and two blue, which I am told are for the sensor (black and red being for the solenoid). Can anyone help on this???
Q4 is I have a printer for them too which I noticed has a RJ11 socket on it - can I wire the drawer indirectly to the printer and then the printer to the till? Will this make it print instead?
Q5 How do I switch off the need for a fob? I only have two fobs to run both newer tills which I have to leave taped on otherwise noone can log on. Is there any way I can program them to be used without?
Q6 Has Uniwell gone bust now? Am I stuffed for buying new fobs, parts etc????
Thanks for all your help!!!
Simon
Hi Simon. Sorry, I can't help you with the Uniwell problem, but I just wanted to let you know that the standard for RJ11 drawer connectors is black and green for the solenoid. Just be a bit careful because some drawers have a 12 volt solenoid and the register may have a 24volt output. I've had the drawer drive circuit burn out from people wiring low impedance drawers.
Can anyone else help with the other questions?
Cheers
A1 any operators can be allocated specific security clearance and any sign on code normal practice is to allocate highest privelidges to clerk1 - but that is not necessarily true in every case.
A2 Never heard of it - my suspicion is that someone has renamed a clerk as stock taker - could just as easily be named Kevin!
A3 red and white are drawer push, blues are closed drawer sensor return as the previous reply stated. CHECK THAT THE DRAWER SOLENOID HAS AN IMPEDANCE OF 21-26 OHMS. ANY LOWER WILL DAMAGE THE TILL AND THE BASE. PERHAPS NOT INSTANTLY BUT I DOUBT YOU WOULD COMPLETE A DAYS TRADING!
A4 Yes to the first part - i don't understand the second part of the question.
A5. The fobs are usually assigned as clerks - not sure how you have them set up as q1 makes me assume you have the clerks as secret code sign on. You can switch off the fobs in the system options - have you tried just signing on as a clerk without having the fobs attached?
A6 not sure about the law and gossip on websites - but i did hear that they have gon into administration - Uniwell parts always came from a single source - Uniwell.
