TX-870 - intermittent printing problems

Well spotted, I didn't even notice the 832 part. As stated above, the 832 (and 822 Impact) run on RS-485 serial connections which would explain why a straight through cable works and a switch won't.

The main things to check are the IRC information and the baud rate (19k2 or 38k4). And the connectors won't have LEDs on them if it's a serial system.

Yep, sorry - my bad. Not ethernet, just RS485 lead.

Will check all the IRC settings, but still can't understand why it only works some of the time.

After changing a couple of settings on Saturday, then changing them back, the printer started to work. Come in this morning and nothing again.

Still to dig out the other till yet so will have to empty my garage out tonight as it's buried right at the back behind a shop load of furniture :(
