Track area over
Hi, I have two dx895's using a table plan. sp112 max set to 400 tables. 255 clerks. Initially track headers and lines were increased from 100, 1000 to 200, 2000. One of the tills is used more for table plan and now and then get track area over error. This causes the table master till to show the other till offline and the items stored on the table gets lost and table turns pink. I then read in the manual that you need to calculate the track headers, lines. I increased it to 100, and 3000 track headers and lines, a week later got track area over. So now I've finally increased it to 1000 and 6000 track headers and lines. Can any one explain what track area means? and which part i.e. headers or lines would cause this problem.
"Track Area Over" Warning Message (WM-69)
Problem: The track area is full.
Cause: Track Memory is not set large enough, too many tracks stored.
Solution: If possible, store the current track and finalize other tracks. If this is not possible then you must finalize the current track and then finalize other tracks.
Rather than blindly increasing values for the sake of it, I would be more inclined to look at the root cause. Are you actually finalizing the transactions or just leaving them sat there?
I've always set the track header 100 and track lines as 1000. My understanding is that Track header is number of open tables you can have i.e. 100 at once open on the till and track lines is number of transaction lines you can have within that one table i.e. 1000 transaction lines within one table.
I might be wrong.
I have been having a similar problem but it's only just started a couple days ago. We also have two dx 895's where one is used mostly for the table plan and our back dining room orders, the front one has the most rung in on it with take-out as well as the other dining room. Most orders are cashed out on the front till as well as it is the only one with a cash drawer. Our back till that has the table plan that has the problems, when the track area over error comes up it also freezes when we try to print orders and some orders seem to disappear after they are entered. I know it can't really be that the tracks are full as today it happened at 11am, before the lunch rush even really started! Is there any other reason why it might be showing this error?
Hi Jocelyn
If would suggest to do a Initial IRC to ensure that the two tills are talking to each other, also check on Table plan to see if you have any multiple bills (ie. purple tables).
I've been to client's sites where they have had similair issues in regards to mulitple bills, table that have disappeared and so on. I had to perform Initital tracking area procedure on the tills (which clear and closed all open tables on the system).
This resolved the issue and I have not heard anything back from them since.
Hope this help ?
