I've received some kindly donated SX500 tills and have reset them using the 3 button method as instructed. I get IR done which I was expecting but this is followed by "set up required" and a flashing red box that makes no sense. Any ideas how I might get past this?

the machines have lost all of their programs.
you would require a complete reprogram, which is not straight forward.
where are you based?

I agree, it will need a complete re-program and an internal battery check, as other wise it could go again, a reprogram to a basic standard shouldn't take very long, but it depends on the sort of program you want to achieve, what enviroment?
