SX805-D3 not working

I got a call this morning from our bakery that when we opened the Sx805 was not working, they said it wasn't responsive at all. I advised that they try the thing where you hold down the three buttons two rows up on the left hand side in the SP key position and turn it off and on, they did that, and it did make it show the screen. However when you press most of the buttons it just makes that error sounding beep, and I can't get it to do anything. When I got in I tried sending over information from PLM 2000 and it looked like it went but it didn't seem to make any changes. I just made some changes to the keyboard layout thinking it had lost that info and sent that over. I'm wondering if it's possible it's gone back to factory settings or something like that but the keyboard layout in the manual doesn't work either. Anyway, here is what the screen says after it was restarted with the three button technique:

IR DONE
BOOT ROM - SX-805 B1.01
FLASH ROM - Type - D3 V7.50
RAM:0 IF:NO

Any help or advice would be wonderful! I've called our reseller but they may not be able to get here today and it's our only till...

Thanks!

Jocelyn

Hi,

That message would indicate that the reset has been done correctly so it should have kicked back in, what is the current state of the till? does it beep when keys are pressed or just do nothing? do you have a printer connected and does it have a till roll in etc?

Thank you.

Thanks for replying!

There is a printer attached and there is paper in it. When I turn the till on it wants someone to clerk in and moving the key does change to different settings, however it seems like the number pad has moved to the left hand side (we had it on the right) and I can't figure out where the clerk button is or what I should enter to try to clerk in. I think I found the clear button though.

Most of the buttons don't make any noise at all when I press them, only, from the bottom left corner, 5 up and 7 over do, and the ones 4 up and 3 over I think are numbers as they make the asterisks come up for clerking in, the others just make the angry beeping noise except for the one I think is the clear button as it will get rid of the asterisks.

I tried connecting my laptop to it with an ethernet cable as we have PLM 2000 on it and I just edited the keyboard layout and then hit send, it looked like it sent the information but nothing changed on the till.

We don't have the till on a battery back-up or anything, just a powerbar, so I'm almost wondering if maybe a power surge could set it back to factory settings? but then I can't figure out why I can't do anything to it.

Any help would be great!

Hi again,

It sounds very much to me like the keyboard has been changed to the default layout as opposed to the programmable layout that you need to be using.
If you try doing the reset again where you turn the till off, turn the key to SP and hold down 3 keys in a line whilst turning it back on, only this time use the keys I have marked below in Red:

Keep your eye on the screen and it should flash up saying either [F1] or [F0], you need it to say [F1] so keep trying until it says that. Once it does say [F1] then release the buttons you are holding, turn the key back to R, press Cl and then give it a test.
If however it doesn't say either of those then let me know what it does say.

Thank you.
