Ok ive been given the task of setting up a load of tills in a club.

now i used to be a manager there so i know the till systems and back office software.

there are 9 sx700 and 2 8000 in a irc chain using com1 rs232

they all used to work fine

but have been switched off for a long time, i presume they have lost all there settings as they say setup needed apart from master till, i cannot communicate with any of them from the back office pc.

also i cannot log in with the master code as the layout has changed on the till

how do i set these back up
folowing instruction from another post ive got the numbers back where they ought to be but abnd a big one

none of the other till apart from the master till will do anything, i can type in codes but for some reason the number 4 button doesnt work and i really need this button as you can imagine

the numbers still come up as ********* and i can log into normal server numbers
is there any way i can set up another till as master, so i can reiniatlise the network.

need to do it quite urgently

add previous settings are stored on pc plus, flags etc

Hi,

Yes it would probably be best to setup another till as the master and get that machine up and running first. The first thing you will need to do is swap the RS232 cable from the current master till and plug it into the new master in channel B.
Then you will need to logon as the engineer and Press Enter on 9999 - Init All Data.
Then you will need to check your software and find out the machine number of the master till and the baudrate used to communicate, once you have these I will be able to point you in the right direction of getting it communicating, does that sound like the way you want to tackle it?

Cheers

ive got the baud rate already from the back office pc, when you say number what do you mean the till number for master is 108 according to pc, is it a simple case of pulling another slave till off and plugging it into b or will have have to change something to get it to be the master ?

Hi,

No it is as simple as plugging it into channel B and giving the machine the correct ID according to the software, which is changed under code 200 - Identifiers within the engineer menu and making sure the till itself is at the correct baudrate, as standard this is 19200 but can easily be changed if we need to.
Then you should be able to communicate with it, you don't actually set the machines as master / slave, which ever one has the cable plugged into channel B just becomes the master.

Hope this helps.
