NX-5400 01 jammed

We have an NX-5400 01 which is not working.
The customer receipt till roll jammed and it gave out a bit of a noise. The paper was sorted out but the till seemed to stay jammed. It has been turned off and back on but no matter which button is pushed nothing registers and the last amount entered still shows on the cash 'window'.
Yesterday I tried the NX-5400 01 initial reset as follows:
Turn key to SP
Turn the till off
Goto bottom left hand corner of the keyboard.
Go 3 rows up.
Put your finger on that button, the button next to it and the button next to that.
While holding those 3 buttons down turn the till on.
The till will bleep 4 or 5 times.
We only had 1 bleep but this seemed to get it working again to a point i.e. we can do a till total but cannot add up on it. We can enter a figure but whichever white (or any other)button we then press, we get an 'IE-03' error. We are now unsure as to our next step.
We have seen the following instruction but are not sure if this wipes the programmes or not.
Turn Key to SP
Type in 9901 x . (Ram clears all the data from the till)
Press Clear
Type 9906 x 5 . (this sets up the standard program for the UK)
Press Clear.
If this is the next thing to do I am not sure how to interpret the instructions.
Obviously we enter 9901 but what is the 'x'? and what is the 'x 5' please.
Any help will be gratefully received please?
Jackie

Hi,
9901 is the Initial Program Load.
This WIPES all of your programming data and loads the default data so the machine can operate.
Follow the instructions at each of the prompts.
The 9901 only takes a couple of seconds to wipe the data.
You will have to setup the machine again with your own data.
Kind Regards
Paul

Thanks Paul.
All we really want the till to do is just add up and calculate the daily figures.
Which key is the 'x'?
If we run the 9906 command will this reset to the UK standard and allow us to do this?
Again is it a case of pressing the 'x' key 5 times following the commands?
Don't really want to touch it until I understand exactly what to do and expect.
Thanks
Jackie

Hi,
The first part of your initial post with regards to initial reset should have fixed the issue, once the printer jam was cleared.
The description as detailed should have resulted in 4 beeps and a printout saying IR done.
The "initial clear" is used to give the register a "kick in the head" and clear it back into operational status, with no loss of programming information.
To do the 9901, as indicated, is to wipe all your programmed data, and take the register back to as it would have come "out of the box".
You would then have to manually enter in each of the PLU's, their prices, and any flag conditions with regards to how you would like to sell them. That's the very simplified version of it.
Kind Regards
Paul
