up x 300 screen non responsive / frozen

Hi my machines screen becomes non responsive sometimes ,seems like a intermitent fault sometimes it will run for an hour ok , sometimes only a couple of minutes before this happens ,any ideas anyone

Get a small brush and give the edges a good clean.
Sounds like a bit of dirt stuck in there which will be pressing on the touchpanel.

Hi thanks yes i have cleaned it pretty thoroughly and it still happens ,its not just part of the screen ,its the whole thing almost as if the system freezes and then after a while starts working again ,think i might have to reluctantly call someone in to have a look

If even a little bit of dirt in the corner presses enough that will be sensed as a touch on the screen and since they aren't multitouch screens that causes the lock up.
The other thing it could be of course is damage caused by someone using something sharp to touch the screen with. For example using a pen to touch the 'buttons' when ringing something up.
I've seen a screen damaged that way. The touch part has been hit hard enough to leave a dent in the membrane which then registers as a touch to the till.
