Hi!

I'm helping out at a local non-profit second hand shop that have an up-700 they got from an hotel that they want to use.
I've been able to figure out to configure some what, but I'm stuck on two points:

1. I want to remove the logo from the receipt (since it's the logo of the hotel). To remove it completely would perhaps be preferable, but to replace it works too..
I've read that you need the "service key", but is there no other way? Or is it possible to reach the service mode without it?
The budget is basically zero, so buying a srv key just for this, or paying for help from an technician, is not really options. I've seen images of the srv key, so I might be able to "hack something together", but..
(A bit strange that you cant change this as manager!? )

2. So far I have been able to figure out how to handle PLU's. But as it's for an second hand shop PLU's not totally suitable. There is no clear groups etc (there is some, for like records, CDs etc), so it would be nice if they could enter arbitrary prices.
I could maybe setup PLU's to suite different prices (like 5, 10, 25, 30 etc), it would work, but wouldn't be too intuitive (this is not tech-savvy people ;?D ).

Any help/suggestions is welcome!

Have a nice day!

Making a service key is easy. You just need an OP key, a picture of a service key and a file!
The graphic logo option is put under service control to stop people deleting it by mistake/on purpose. The text is under manager key control.
Once you have the service key, go to one position past PGM2 and that's SRV. Then go to setting, then system preset, then down to line 912. I assume you want them to be able to give a copy receipt so type in one of the following:

1160 3-line header instead of a graphical logo

1163 6-line header instead of a graphical logo

1165 3-line header instead of a graphical logo and 3-line footer

For the second question, you need to create departments.
You then have a choice of making a PLU open and linking it to a department, or making the departments open and putting them on the keyboard.
Do you have the 700 operation manual?

Thank you for your answer.
I haven't had time to fix the key yet, but I have a question about it:

You said that I should use the OP key, but could I use the manager key instead? It looks like it's a bit closer in form tor the service key (and I have three manager keys, but just two op keys).

I got a Swedish manual that came with the unit, but it's rather poor (especially the "program section"). But I found an English manual online that looks much better. :?)

You can use any key to make the service key. I said the OP key because you normally get more of them with the till, just in case you make a mess of one!
Is the 700 itself in English? Just in case Swedish ROMs are different from UK ones.
