Dear Folks,

I have spent the last two hours trying to track this site down from using it 3 years ago when I couldn't find the software for this machine.

Having the delight of installing windows 8.1 on a new PC I have now reached the stage where I can go no further. The link program appears to start fine, but it tries to link i get the run time error 75 & path/file access error.

Having a good look for the device I found it had no driver installed, tried to point it toward the old XP etc location, no surprises it didn't find any relevant driver.

Can somebody please point me in the direction of a driver for this machine using Windows 8.

Here's hoping.

A lot of the older EPoS software doesn't want to run on anything newer than XP, normally due to drivers. You might be much better installing VMWare on your new PC with a Windows XP virtual machine to run the app.

Are you running it as an administrator?
If it does run, then go to properties for the shortcut, then the compatability tab, then under privilege level tick the run as administrator box.
If it doesn't run then you are just one of the many people to discover what a pain in the a**e windows 8.1 is. :)

Thanks folks,

Unfortunately windows 8.1 doesn't even recognise the till so the software doesn't even know one is linked.

With regards to the VMWare option, I'm very unfamiliar with this, how much it costs and how to set it up; is there any advice I can find on it? !Chin

Cheers

VMWare is free https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/free

If you have (or can obtain) a copy of Windows XP then you can install XP within a virtual machine - this is how I run about half of my EPoS apps, some for compatibility, some just to 'sandbox' them from the rest of my system.
