SHARP UPC 700 .........RAM ERROR
You are using com 2 and not the ethernet port?
Com 2 is hidden beside the rs232 port underneath the rear display at the back.
From mrs the programmed speed is 115200. On the working one in service go to service preset and look at line 903. It should be 8270 if it hasn't been changed (the first digit is the speed setting). If it has, make sure that line matches on both machines and then try again using the programmed speed.
yup -right port - says ch2 next to it right?
from a mrs have only tried backup receive and backup send from the programmed machine.
also in diagnostics, ch2 is not listed only ch1 and ch8 and both machines fail tests on both ports [im assuming no loopback connecter connected is the reason?
have now performed srv program reads and have tried manually entering these into the poorly till - no difference when attempting send/receive.
this is the first time ive played with the sharps [and probably the last too lol]
if I have to admit defeat in terms of program downloading, how difficult is it to manually program from the ground up? [I cant even test it on account of the fact the "working" register stubbornly says system closed no matter what I try to do to it - i'm putting that down to not being connected via the network presently?
the only function I have is clerk sign on.
also having issues understanding telling which is master and which is slave as I can do a program read in service mode on both machines there are exclamation marks on all menu items on both machines in pgm1 and 2.
when attempting to send or receive the program, obviously the till im stood at has to be in service mode, is there a particular position that the other till has to be in? [id already found 8270 but its reassuring having you confirm this as correct]
ive given up onsite and have retreated to the workshop
obviously the guy is anxious to get them back asap as hes not over happy with the sam4 420 I left him lol
The ports will fail without the loopback. Possibly port 2 has failed on one of them too.
Posutility will let you copy using ethernet, so that should work.
To get rid of the system closed you need to go to pgm2, settings and open store. However you need to sign on with a clerk that has access to pgm1/pgm2! Does the working machine let you sign on with all the shops different clerks? If not then the working machine must be a satellite and was running with centralised clerks which is controlled by the master. To get 1 working clerk, go into service then irc and make it a standalone. That way you will at least have clerk 1 to sign on with.
They aren't too difficult to program from scratch just copy the service settings and the file settings and you can copy the rest from one to the other using irc. Don't worry if you get the file settings a bit out at first. Unlike Sam4s' you can change the files at any time.
PM'd too
Hi porty - just wanted to reiterate how profoundly greatfull i am for all the time and effort you put in to helping me out today.
There remains just 1 puzzling issue - the clerks work fine on the satellite till - up until they are used on the master. They then display "lacking memory" again - until i initialise memory again - not something i can ask the customer to do.
if its something simple, would you mind once again?
if not, plan b is to remove clerks 4,5 & 6 from the keyboard on the master - leaving them available for the slave.
Im out from 10 in the morning, with a view to returning the guy his tills mid afternoon
cheers once again - if you are ever round birmingham way please look me up - we can go for coffee - or better still something a little stronger
