I would like to know if I could download the software for this system to learn the Back Office for a restaurant that I am employed at.
I have just finished converting all the menus to digital on LCD TV's. I did all the presentations for the new menus etc. So now I would like to learn the POS system as he pays a lot of money for someone to come out and change the prices and he wants me to keep the system maintained.
The manager has showed me the basics of the system and the engineer came out to show my about changing prices etc but I would like to learn more about this system.
Can I take a backup of the current system and run it under an emulator or in a virtual machine? If so how do I back it up to USB?
Or can I download an image from somewhere and start again adding items and prices etc.
Thanks

You can back up your system from the back office and restore it to a different machine.
The X300 runs windows ce, so the main program isn't compatible with any other flavour of windows.
What the machine looks for at start up is a usb memory stick with a folder called x300. If it finds one, it installs/upgrades the main program. If not then it just starts normally. The main problem with trying to put it on other ce devices is making their BIOS look for the right folder at start up, or finding out what they would look for and renaming accordingly. I've never tried it on a virtual machine, but I'll give it a go and see how I get on.
If you like I can email a copy of the back office manual.
Most importantly though, make sure all terminals are off before you start programming and back up, back up, back up!

Thanks for the reply. I did purchase the back office manual online from manualsmania but the link to download didn't work and after emailing them with no response my account has now been deleted and I have to open a dispute with PayPal. So if you could please send me a copy of the back office manual that would be great thank you. Will pm you with email address. Thanks again
