Sharp ER-A570 Not assigned error

Have a friend with a A570. She had a paper jam in it. When she cleared it, she turned the key to the SVC position and back. Now whenever she hits a key other than a number, she gets a NOT ASSIGNED error. I found a link that said that you have to enter a clerk # now. I can't find the key or combination of keys that need to be pressed to get a clerk logged in. Any suggestions?

Hi. You are right. When you have turned to SRV' mode to perform a program reset, you always need to enter a clerk/cashier. You need to find the button. On this model, it can be a button with a person's name on it to log that person on, or it can just be a clerk, cashier, log on, staff number type button. In this case, you type the clerk number (e.g 1) then press the clerk button. It is very rare for anyone to leave this button out when programming, as it is needed at various times. If you can't find it, it is possible to read the keyboard setting, and find it's location.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks for the info. I tried to find the clerk key last night but was unable to do so. I am going to try and pull the keyboard programming today. I went ahead and purchased the programming manual from here to try and help.

Very good.
The keyboard report isprinted like this:

Turn key to SRV mode (one click past PGM2 where there is nothing written).
The display will show 'SRV'
Now type 950 X TL

This will print a list of the function keys.

The key numbers are down the left side.
If there is a clerk/cashier button, it is number 97
If there is a direct sign on button, it is numbers 98 to 107

Find any of these numbers down the left side, and tell me what number is printed across from it down the right side, and I'll tell you exactly where it is on the keyboard.
