Sharp ER 3110 with "qU PU U" error when buttons pressed
Hello all,
I have a Sharp ER 3110 Register that failed, I replaced the onboard 3.6V battery as it was quite low, and then had to switch the key to the second hidden position before the register showed any signs of life, now when buttons are pressed (except the number buttons, CL and TL when in PGM2 key position) the register shows "qU PU U" on the display and gives a long beep. Any one else come across this or have a suggestion on how to fix it?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
The first thing to try would be a soft reset:
If not then you can try a soft reset which is done as follows:
Turn the key to reg postion
Turn the till off
Hold down the CL key
Turn the till back on whilst still holding CL
If not then you would need to perform a full ram clear to set the machine back to factory settings:
**Warning, this procedure is a last resort and will lose all settings and programming**
1) Unplug from the power
2) Turn the key to the Serv position
3) Plug back into the power
4) Hold down Journal feed and turn the key round to the 7 O'clock position
5) Turn the key to PGM2
Cheers
Thank you for your quick response. I have also now been given a a second register, a Sharp ER 3120, Both belong to the same sporting organisation, possibly both about the same age and I'm guessing both have faulty batteries, I have tried the soft reset on both but nothing seemed to happen, I have now completed a master reset on the 3120 and it has come back to life, but like you say, it is has returned to factory settings, and it shows LOCK on the display in REG mode. The cash draw is currently missing I was wondering if that was the cause of the LOCK. By doing the master reset I can now do simple things like change the time and date which I couldn't do before the Master Reset. Do you have access to a programming manual that is a bit more detailed than the users instruction manual, I think I need to program the keyboard layout and allocate more PLU keys. There may be some other programming needed also.
Hello again,
I have now had to do a master reset on the 3110 register as well, which has meant I have lost any programming that was in the register, when we first got the registers, they had the basic keyboard layout and all spare buttons were programmed as PLUs, is there a simple way to get back to that point? I have attached a jpg image of how I believe the registers were layed out when we purchased them. The small numbers represent the associated PLU code with each key.
These Registers are probably far more complex than we really needed, so half the function are not needed. We never tracked which person operated the till or what our stock levels were. We did report how many of each PLU was sold and we used the department number to distinguish between things like, bulk food, lollies etc. If you could advise me on how to get the register back to that point it would be greatly appreciated. Is there a list that describes what the 900 parameters mean?
