920 to 925 should be 0000 and 926 should be 0400.

You are using a separate power supply for the scanner? The power supplied by the register isn't really up to it.

I'm not no ill give that a try, think ill need to disable power going to it from the register first??

I'd put my money on a handshaking issue. The register is looking for RTS/CTS/DTR etc
