Can't get the Z function to work

I purchased a business that has a Sharp ER-2386S cash register, and no manual. It came with 6 keys: 2 to lock the drawer, and 4 for the functions (Reg,X, Z, etc). 2 of those are stamped "MA" and are able to be turned to the Z function. The other 2 are stamped "OP" and cannot. I am able to use the MA key to do an X, but when I try to do a Z to zero all the day's transactions it just beeps at me and gives me an error, "E", in the on the screen. I realize this an old machine, but I really can't afford to replace it right away. Any advice to get it to work properly? Also, any idea how to set the correct date/time?
Thanks much!

Hi.
Try pressing the decimal point before the total (cash) button in Z mode.
Sorry, I don't have date/ time info. i'll see if I can find it for you.
