trying to set up product that is sold by weight

I think that my new SER7040 can handle 3dp for the prices, but somewhere in one of the programming manual sections, I'm sure that 2dp is a recommendation for numerical operations. Either way, as you suggested Andy, it makes no sense to sell by grammes - the standard unit of weight sale should be in kilos, and this works in everyday retail quite well.

One subtle problem that I have come across with my old ER-420M is that when the weight is input on the till keyboard (I don't have linked scales) then it likes to have 3dp, but certainly does not accept a weight input below 2dp. So, for example, I have to tell my staff to input 0.20 XTIME #PLU , and not 0.2 XTIME #PLU if the scales read 200grammes for a product. I have never got around to investigating whether this is a fixed feature or something that can be altered in the PLU programming - I'm a bit lazy like that. I am going to look into this when I transfer my data across to the SER7040. Other than this, I've not come across any issues of always using kilos as the standard unit of sale for scaled items - 3dp is appropriate for the resolution on most shop scales (typically 5grammes).

This pos system is used to manage the product so you have to setup the product in your system for sold by its weight. You have to write weight and price on product so this pos system can read easily and manage the sale.
