does anyone use or have experience with this setup? does the scanner need a power source or is it powered by the system?
are the settings for the pos default?

the scanner an be programmed and so can the register
scanners should be set up as 2400baud odd parity 8 data bits and 1 stop bit but there are many variations. start with these settings - if this fails try 9600 baud

its not a diffficult procedure but it is a lot of guesswork.
in terms of power, again depends on which port you are using. if its a 9way d type then it should be powered but the scanner does come with a 5v external psu if in doubt.

i tried the settings mentioned and any other possible setting and still no power. i called a repair place and they told me you there is a setting to allow power to the serial port and/or usb but i cant find it anywhere. he offered to do it a hefty price so i rather do it myself...if anyone can help, PLEASE!

thanks.
