Sps 2000 parallel lpt port crash

Hello does anyone know why my machine is freezing on the printer 25 pin parallel port it does this with nothing plugged into it while testing in self test printer then selecting the parallel it freezes as soon as it's pressed. Maybe a fault but this is the same for two machines could any think what this could be ?

well, this morning we were talking about printer baud rates - so my guess is you have a serial printer plugged into a parallel port

This happens with nothing plugged in.

I got another printer it has the parallel port thought it would be better although found this hew freeze fault so still struggle with this. Thought it must be faulty printer but sane problem with nothing plugged in

and are you sure of the pin configuration of the cables that you are using?
i've used both - but serial printers are far more common.
