I've just got a 2nd hand SPS-1000 and I'm trying to link it up to a PC via a serial port. I have a serial lead and the Utility software but no instructions for using the utility software.

Does the SPS-1000 need to be in any particular mode in order to collect sales and to get the program over to the PC?

Thanks
HLP

Hi

You need to set the port that the cable is connected to as Polling, which is in service mode

Can't remember what menu number it is. So if you still having problems I will find the manual.

TURN THE KEY TO THE 6 O'CLOCK POSITION [ONE PAST PGM - ITS NOT MARKED ON THE CABINET]
PRESS 7 THEN ENTER
CHOOSE THE PORT YOU HAVE THE CABLE PLUGGED IN AND SELECT POLLING
PRES THE CLEAR /ESCAPE KEY 3 TIMES AND TURN THE KEY BACK TO REG.

I've managed to get the program information from the ECR to the PC but when I collect Sales it fails at the Z Pre Polling stage with a pre polling error but continues to the end and then fails with error 0 unknown error, any suggestions?

check in systems options in service mode that the machine is set up for stand alone use [if it is the only register] or has the correct number of terminals set.
ie. if its till 1 and you only have 1 till, set first terminal to 1 and last terminal to 1
