i've used the er51** utility with great success in the past many times

I have some ser6500 and a copy of the early and later utility for ser6500
connected with a modified db9 serial lead
I use to put the key to "s" and press r/a on the register with the er51** machines

this does nothing on the ser6500 and i can't find info on key position to get the ser6500
---OnLiNe---

any advice or information would be great , thanks

dead simple - the till is always "online" as long as you set up the comms options correctly. no other operation is required at the till end [theres a bug in the utility - dont send comms options from the utiity coz it will program out the port mid communications - and - i dont think it sends MACROS]

Excellent info, thanks for taking the time
I'll check the lead and port settings then
does the register need setting with a register number etc at the till(after ram clear)
before connecting via pc, that was another thought i had
may well be the serial port settings as i was using TEC PCtool !dunce
once again , many thanks !thumbs

after ram clear, memory allocation is forced - as the register prompts you for certain information
and will not continue until you have entered it.
p mod 15 subtotal 3 x/time cash will give you the comms options.
options 2,3 & 6 if stand alone should be set at the till number - eg. 1]
comms options 50-59 are all about serial port 1 60-69 port 2.

so to set up port 1 for pc comms, 50=2, 51=0, 52=0, 53=1.

some versions of eprom on this model used to lock out the ports after an initial clear.
most of the time, setting all numbers [50-69] to zero
then back to desired numbers restores function.

15 subtotal reads the settings
60 subtotal allows you to change the settings.
