Samsung ER290 problem

My small shop has a Samsung ER290 cash register. At certain times when we enter a quantity and an item price, the qty appears on the till roll correctly but the price shows as 999999xxxxx, where the x's are seemingly random digits. The total price i.e. qty x unit price is correct. I have tried to replicate this phenomenon and thought that it only happened after running a Z-total. However, it now happens during the day.

Can anyone help, please?

either dust in the optical disk on the side of the printer or there may be a chipped gear or the printer is worn out - the age, cost and simplicity of that register would render it beyond economical repair for all but the first option [close your eyes, lean close to the type wheel banks and blow VERY HARD -BE AWARE - PAPER DUST WILL FLY EVERYWHERE SO DO NOT THEN TAKE A BREATH FOR A SECOND ATTEMPT WITHOUT BACKING WAY OFF FIRST[been there, done that - got the chest infection lol]]

Have tried blowing; no difference. Noticed that on a Z-total, one category also came out as 9999999xxxxxx. Looked back through the till roll and the two items contributing to the total both printed out correctly. Also, the grand total on the Z-total was correct.
