Sam4S er-420M Frustrated with trying to get started -Help!
I hope someone can help me before I have a nervous breakdown. My boss has just bought this till and it is so complecated that it is driving me to drink as I have been lumbered with programming it as he cannot work it out. I have used numerous tills but nothing so complecated. I have managed to programme the date and address, plus one PLU that does not involve VAT. I am now trying to do another PLU to include VAT and shoe it on teh receipt. Also I want to be able to take daily readings for both of these. This till is far to cpmplex for our needs and the instructions are losing me, can anyone please help with the basics that I can understand. I sound as thick as a plank but I am an accounts manager and this should come easy for me and is not. Thank you in advance......desperate!!! !
just checking in, how are you getting on?

Hi Andy, you were a life saver and yes it worked but this till is still driving me crazy! They had the till roll run out and it has gone back fed through and now will not print anything on it at all. We had to programme a new PLU and change the roll on the same day so we are not sure if they are related or this is just a fluke. I can't see why it should have affected it really but I just get the sorting out job, I don't even use the till I do the admin!!
The other thing we are having trouble with is getting it to do a daily reading showing VAT and Non VAT on the print out, any ideas, I can't believe how clever you are with this, I feel really stupid as I have used tills all my life. Thank you so much, sorry I have not been able to thank you sooner, but I lost the address as we had a change in the computers. Regards Sue
there are two possibilities on the printing
either you have just opened a new box of rolls and they are not thermal
or the roll is in upside down!
hold a piece of the roll against an incandesant light bulb - the heat should activate the ink in the paper if it's thermal
if it is, check that the roll is in so that it is fed into the printer from the bottom of the roll
[so if you were standing at the left hand side of the printer, the roll unwinds anticlockwise]
only 1 side of the paper is thermally active.
in terms of the vat content, did you set the plu's up as vat and none vat?
or are you just using 1 for vat and a different one for non vat?
first case scenario, vat will show on the standard financial reading [1 sub total]
if you chose the second option, the 1 sub total will need to be followed by a 3 subtotal in order to see which department was used
