Hi Graham

Andy's right you can also connect using Ethernet but it needs to be set up correctly with IP addresses.
Also sounds like you have tried this method without success.
Try the following:
Cabling is via standard Ethernet PC to Ethernet switch and from the switch to each till.
On each till in S mode, System Option, Tab 4, set the tills up to communicate via Ethernet set the IP address on PC to 192.168.1.1
Set till one as 102.168.1.101 set sub net 255.255.255.0 set Gateway 192.168.1.1 set DNS 1 to 0 DNS 2 to 0 PC connection to Ethernet & Port to 8027
Set till 2 as 192.168.1.102 and till 3 as 192.168.1.103 all other settings as till one.
Try on the PC to Ping 192.168.1.101 you should get a ping back.
See if the tills are talking to each other turn the key to P go to fill management try sending date & time to all registers...does this work?
Let me know how you get on.

Good Morning Alan,

You can probably sense from my chirpier mood that the tills are talking to each other.
I reset them to the settings you suggested and they work.
I have one till that wont do anything so I've removed it from the system, It wont even boot up ( Blank screen ) I think it got wet in the storm damage we've had, water all over the place.
any way I now have two tills talking to each other and I successfully obtained a time report from number 1 and 3.
What's next?

Thanks

Graham.

Please note all Cash Registers must have the same memory allocation you can check this in S Mode View Memory Allocation.
If there not the same you will have to reprogram the till as if it was leaving its box. If your not sure get in touch. Make sure you give them enough memory for future expansion. IE standard PLU is not enough so increase this to at least 300.

Hello Graham,

I'll try and explain the setup with Samstock as best as I can.

Section 1 - The PC
First step is to work out what IP address the PC is, this is done as follows

- On the keyboard, hold down the windows key and press R
- enter ncpa.cpl followed by OK
- Right click the Local Area Connection and select STATUS then DETAILS
- Take a note of the IPV4 Address, the SUBNET MASK and the DEFAULT GATEWAY

Section 2 - The Tills

On all tills - In S-Mode, select SYSTEM OPTIONS
Set the following (where possible)

OPTION#1
Register # (01-32) = 1, 2 or 3 depending
Store # = 000000
IRC : From Register = 1
IRC : To Register = 3

OPTION#4
#Network Setting = YES
IP Address = x.x.x.101 (till1) x.x.x.102 (till2) x.x.x.103 (till 3) (note: x.x.x. = same as PC's first three numbers of IPv4 address)
Subnet Mask = Set same as the PCs subnet mask
Gateway = Set same as the PC's default gateway
DNS Server#1 = Set same as the PC's default gateway or leave as 0.0.0.0
DNS Server#2 = 0.0.0.0
PC Connection Type = Ethernet
PC Connection Port Number = 8027

Once these are set, power off the SPS520s then power back on

Section 3 - Samstock
Select Maintenance then configuration followed by stock locations
Select the location
Ensure that the cash register type is SAM4S SPS-520
Select Register Details
Set the connection type as Network
Set First Terminal = 1, Last Terminal = 3
Set Subnet first = 1, Subnet last = 3
Tick communicate to terminals via IP address
Tick Poll Individual Terminals

On the right you should see three Terminals listed, against each terminal add the corresponding IP address set up in section 2 (i.e. 192.168.0.101) - for till 2 untick the enabled flag until till 2 is fixed

There may be an issue with Till 2 missing from the system as the comms program checks the existence of all the tills, if this is the case renumber till 3 as till 2 and change the IRC ranges in Samstock and the Tills accordingly. When till 2 is fixed, make this till 3 and renumber the IRC settings again.
