ER5200M - "X Mode Only"

I have a customer that is having an issue with an ER5200M that is saying "X Mode Only" when the key is in REG mode. I am new to these systems, so could use some help ASAP please.
What can I do to get this register back in working order? I am unsure as to what was pushed to cause the error. I am not at the site, this is from a support call.
