Can't access x or z totals on my Er940.

Hi all.Having problems with getting x or z totals from our er940.Every time I try,the figures are always zero even after umpteen sales.I've read in the manual that training mode doesn't register sales at all so I looked into turning that off,but I'm still going wrong somewhere. The machine in question is a used one we bought online.
