Hi there - I currently have a SAM4s SPS-2000 machine and have managed to program it with a little help from my friends on this forum (thanks). It now looks like I will be needing a second SPS-2000 machine due to volume of business.

I'm looking for a little advice on best way to configure them so that they update the same stock totals. I understand that the tills can be linked via an ethernet cable, however my plan was to do the following:

Backup the current SPS-2000 to usb and restore back onto the new one. That way I will have the same plu's / menu structure in place. I know I need to amend certain settings like register # etc however can someone point me in the right direction in getting the 2 tills to talk to one another so that they both update the same stock levels etc each time something is sold. I also would like to know if its possible to have staff sign on at any of the tills and update / process sales accordingly.

For reference the tills will be used in a BAR setup selling drinks etc.

Thanks and look forward to the advice.
Ronnie

under systems options, you have to tell each machine which one holds tracking data - the other machine then updates the information on the machine that you designate the master

Andy - thanks for taking the time to reply. Does that mean that all I need is to connect the ethernet cable between the 2 machines - change the system options settings you mentioned and hey presto - its done.

By doing this does it allow the staff to sign on at ANY machine at ANY time to process sales?

if you have set up the machines allowing clerk interrupt, have set which is the tracking master for clerks and checks etc AND have set the flags for floating clerks and clerk interrupt etc then yes.

you should be aware that should anything disconnect the link, the machine that is not the master will become very sluggish

in the perfect world, this is very unlikely - but i have lived in rthe real one and seen the issues many times
