'Set' Key for TEC MA 216

I have a second-hand TEC MA 216 which I am hoping to use in the near future. It seems to work perfectly.

It came with three keys (manager, clerk and the small key that opens the top so ink roller/paper rolls can be changed) but the 'manager key' won't turn to the set position so that I can reprogram.

I have looked through the manual and it seems that there should be a fourth key which will turn to the set position... does this sound right? And if there is another key that I will need, does anyone know where I can locate one?

Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions!

Hi,

Yes you are missing an 'MA' or Master key which will turn to all positions, apart from that you seem to have all the keys you will need. Unfortunately I really think you will struggle to get hold of one as these cash registers are very old.

You could actually cut your Manager key yourself and turn it into a Master key quite easily. Below is a picture which should be very similar to your keys, if not identical.

As you can see from this picture, the only difference between the Reg, Mgr and Ma keys is a tiny piece of metal. If you were to cut this tiny piece out using a normal hacksaw as marked with the red lines below, you will have a key that will turn to every position.

If you would still prefer to get hold of an MA key instead, please let me know and i'll see if i can track one down for you.

Kind regards
