he seems to think that we just need to tell windows which monitor is the main monitor and that it has probably just got confused. he says he cannot understand how to do this though because it is using Windows CE and not Windows XP. he says he's never seen CE before and doesn't know how to change that setting, can you tell us how?

Couple of things you could try is turning it on with the external monitor attached or looking at the BIOS, you have to press a key (del, F10 something like that when it starts up and shows the black screen) you may be able to change the video output source in the setup.

It sounds as if the backlight has failed. If not, it may be a board fault, does the led flash continuously or does it beep as usual?. we do offer a repair service if thats any help.
