I have grouped all my items to either food or drink. I need to set up a 50% discount button but just off the price for food not drink. Is this possible?

Yes, on each of the PLUs in program 3 you will see a setting for selective itemiser 1 to 5, if you set all of the food items to selective itemiser 1 to yes then on the discount key you have created set this to only apply to selcetive itemiser 1.

Also, is it possible to add to a couple of the items a menu to have options, e.g how they want steak cooked, ice cream flavours. I thought it was in list plu but i can only do it if there are values attached, i think i must be missing something.

Yes you are for the instruction PLUs in program 3 and set enable zero price sale to yes, you can also set them to be a condiment, this will prevent them being sold without a chargeable PLU being sold first.

I also want to make it so that if you press the house red button for example you can choose small, large and bottle with the corresponding prices, is that possible?

Yes, again you could use a list PLU, you would need to create all of the sizes as different PLUs but then put them in a list and assign that list to the screen.

Also I am unable to enter the number of covers on a table when using the floor plan, a text box comes up but just to add a name to the table not enter the covers. Is it possible to edit this?

In program 3, clerks set each of you clerks to compulsor number of covers entry.
You may also want this to apply to only items going to a kitchen printer (food items) this can be set in program 3 system programming system flags here you can set it to only apply to KP items.
