We ended up buying an uninterrupted power supply unit for each till.

Hopefully touch wood it's solved the problems, time will tell.

Takes the mick really that they have a closed support forum, after all we've paid for the license for each till.

They're software developers and so their support forum is for dealers and for us engineers only im afraid.
Customers looking for support should seek it from the dealer who sold and programmed their tills.

I kind of understand what your saying but surely once you pay for your licence then that should be enough to allow you access to their support forum.

In someways it seems like a money spinner by being a closed shop.

A lot of the reason they do it that way is because otherwise they would get swamped with all the daft questions from end-users, which the dealers have to put up with. It's a filter level, that way the questions which get to them are the ones which should get to them and they don't waste their time. The software suppliers only have a very small team of support engineers - if they provided support to all users then you would pay five times as much for the software.
