Welcome to EpoS Wizard!
Controlling varying units of measure.. glasses and bottles
I run a pub and restaurant and currently not using Epos. In a previous life I had experience of epos and found it tricky when dealing with wines and spirits. We needed to control the stock in terms of measures and also in bottles. There was never an easy way of converting between the two.
I am currently looking for systems. Before I start my search, can anyone tell me how their system copes with this situation?
samstock uses recipies
so a pint of beer is made from 1:88th 0f a barrel.
other systems have sales units and sku's [stock keeping units] and a ratio has to be set between them.

Quick question.
In a ideal world how would you like it to deal with it?
I like the way ICR works. It's simple to manage stock sizes and prices on the till, and if you you want to go further then the back office software is quite a good tool for managing stock.
ICR Touch has up to three different prices and quantities that are programmable for each product.
This enables you to press a button and modify the next item entered so a pint becomes a half, a single become a double, a starter becomes a main. This will record all stock and revenue correctly against one product, making reporting much easier.
For example.
Fosters
Price 1: 3.50
Price 2: 1.75
Price 3: 0.00
Quantity 1: 1
Quantity 2: 0.5
Quantity 3: 0
Touch Office (TMS) is the back office software that links to ICR and can further manage you stock using cases sizes.
For exapmple you can set Fosters to havea a case size of 90 because it come in Barrels of 90 pints. You can then order by case sizes from you suppliers and report by cases size if you wish too.
Touch Office will also allow you to manage recipes and specify products that are made from other products - such as cocktails, shandys etc
Fidelity Total Control with Stock is a back office software program that will link to lots of different systems and help manage your stock using Stock Keeping Units (same as case sizes). Total Control might be more cost effective if you already have a till system you want to link to.
ICR Touch also has an interface to Searflo which is a real time stock management platform that lets you monitor the dispense and sale of draught beer, spirits and post-mix drinks.
Searflo also interfaces with many other common till types such as Casio, Sharp, Micros, Uniwell etc.
