What would I need to setup a KDS system?
From what I have found already;
- Kitchen Controller
- Bump Bar
- VGA Monitor
All of this has taken me hours, just to get to this point. It's incredibly hard to find this information, especially, it seems, in the UK. I'd have to import equipment from the US if I don't want to be charged ludicrous amounts for the systems over here.
Sharp are saying that the UP3500-3515 do support "Kitchen Video Monitors", but they have no documentation. I presume leaving it to a dealer to, well, deal with.
The Kitchen Controllers, by the looks of it, provide a rudamentory OS to manage the information, but they seem to get the orders piped from another windows box or software output. So is it possible with the up3500 or 3515.
Our local POS provider quoted us around £1400~ish for a KDS system to be installed. Which seems too much.
Can anyone throw me a setup guide or some information? I mean, it took me ages to even figure out what its called; "Kitchen Video Monitor", "Kitchen Display System", etc..
Are any of you requiring your operators to input information back into the setup sheets? We require our operators to record tool runout, setup times and so on into the runsheets. Wondering if anyone has any advise on that.
