The flag is correct. Strange one. Error 1 points to incorrect key operation but if you have department programmed to the keyboard that doesn't make sense.
Have any other flag settings been changed at all?
I have seen the ml780 act oddly where what would seem an unrelated flag has a setting changed when that flag exists on the cash register but is not referenced in the manual.

If you have a manual (powerflash manual, not the standard issue) it might be worth checking. Where the manual references a flag setting as not used - do not change, it is important not to change that bit. But it doesn't tell you which setting is correct, this depends on the flash version installed.

You could let me know what these flags are and flash version installed and I can check for you.
If you don't have powerflash manual, pm me your email address

This probably wouldn't make a difference anyway but does the department you are using allow open price entry? And you are sure it is a department, not a plu?

Thanks for replies
Have full ml780 powerflash from Geller but find it hard work, thanks for your suggestions re system flags, I sent the original flag settings back to the till from an earlier saved program via David utilities and now scanning a new barcode and entering price and Dept as you suggested now answers as it should.

BUT!! it has created another problem?? sending revised PLU information from computer to till, the upgrade information sends fine up to approx PLU line 900 where most of the the new information starts, it then abruptly stops sending with comunication error 98 on till screen. PLU & DEPT flags all check as before and PLU memory set to 5000 ??

Again thanks for your ideas on clearing the last problem, any ideas on what system flags to check for this one would be apprecated

Thanks again

Something pretty odd there. Error code 98 was not used for powerflash, at least for any versions that I know of.
I could send you a set of flags to try and if they work maybe you could figure from there. Will send a pm

Thanks would appreciate a set of original un-doctored ml780 system flags. My version is v1.002D16/5/05 (1221 0ver09)
By persevering I think I have found the root of my last problem, re-sending new PLU's to till. I did not fully explain that the new PLU's I sent to the till were from my barcode shopstock listing which I made up in Microsoft Excell and then copied one cell at a time into David Utilities PLU sheet. I found it would not accept more than one cell at a time thats with discription and barcode, it was very time consuming and tedious even at that, after a few hours at this I tried sending to till, thats when it stopped at PLU900 with error 98 just where I started my new enteries.
It seems I've learnt the hard way. so be warned eveyone David Utilities will not acccept Copy and Paste from Excell, it appears on the PLU list but will not send to till.

Thanks for all your help but it seems I have wasted some of your time, will see you ok soon.
