Hi all,

I need a bit of help with an old SX-680. I'm trying to help my dad out in his shop. He aquired this till from someone who went out of business, but the software looks completelty knackered. Random characters appear whenever you press any button regardless of what position the owner key is set to.

I want to try to 1) re-initialise/system clear and if that doesn't work 2) re-flash the firm/software.

Can anyone advise on how to perform a re-initialise and also let me know how I might find David Utility (which from browsing the board seems to be the software I will need to re-flash?)?

I'd be grateful for any help, as we have an enormous door stop at the moment...

Cheers,

Si

You need to carry out a ram-clear when memory is corrupted. I'm trying to recall procedure for that model.
Try this..

Set main flag 113 to 01010101
Turn key to p2
Power off
Hold down receipt and journal feed keys
Power on

Just remembered correct ram clear for sx680 powerprom

set flag 113 = 01010101
Key to X2 and make following entries

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I'm going to ask a noob question here, but how do I set flags? I've only been able to find the operators manuals not the programmers manual so not sure how to do it?

Also, I think this unit maybe knackered. when I turn it on, I just get an inconsistent jumble of letters on the screen regardless of what button I press. Thats if i'm lucky, occassionaly, nothing comes up on the screen at all.

Would be grateful for your advice.

Thought I'd take a photo so you can see what I mean!

Turned on in the X1 position: 1a.jpg

I pressed the button number 9: 2a.jpg
