No display on Casio TE 2400
Tearing my hair out, here. Purchased used TE2400. The display is dead. Tried to re-initialize to no avail. Register goes through process and prints on journal tape, but the display is still dead. Anyone have any possible solutions? I was told the register was "fully functional" - but I disagree. By the way, I did get it to take a program, although no receipt prints (registration of sale does print on journal tape, drawer does open at sale finalization). I'm hoping it's something simple, but I'm not holding my breath.
Any advice will be much appreciated! Thanks!
Is the backlight working in the display? If so, check the contrast. I've never had a faulty display but it is possible of course.
When you init the machine, it should print a receipt. If not, it didn't work. It shouldn't have anything to do with the programming anyway. I've had very corrupt machines that still light the display. Can you give any more info? Which MAC code did you use?
Sorry for my lack of knowledge here. If by backlight, you mean the customer-side display, no, it is not working. Because I really had no way of knowing what was being displayed on reset, I input 40000020410. This seemed to work.
I will mention that I have FOUR machines, all with the same problem. I bought five altogether, and only one had a working display. For the record, these are US machines.
I was not even aware the contrast was adjustable. The only guide I can find showing how to adjust the contrast indicates that the directions are for non-US models. The directions I do have say: Receipt On/Off, Date/Time, Help, then arrow left or right to adjust. I don't know if this needs a PGM key, what mode to use (I assume PGM), and I have no clue which keys are "Lighter" "Darker", since that is not indicated on the template we received. Any clue what to do on US models?
Thanks.
Ah, right. Sorry, I totally forgot that the USA version has the old LED operator display (if you look at te2400 machines in Google, you'll see that everyone else got a sexy multicolor LCD display. Huge selling point. I have no idea why they dumped it for the USA model). I'm still amazed that the displays don't work though. The old LED ones were very reliable too. The first thing you can try is setting the MAC code the same as the working one in case it is trying to use the wrong display.
Perform a flag clear on the working machine (It is the same as a full MAC clear except you hold receipt feed instead of journal feed and you'll get a row of F instead of L. Press SUBTOTAL without entering a MAC code this time). It will print a receipt with a MAC code at the bottom. Go to one of the bad machines and MAC clear it again and enter the FC code from the receipt as the new MAC code.
Hope that makes sense.
You will need to open it up and reseat the ribbon cable for the display. Use some tape to hold it in place.k
