What is a good software for a barcode scanner for quickbooks? I have a barcode scanner that I want to start using to keep track of my physical inventory. I need a software that will export the data of whatever I scan to quickbooks where the inventory will be automatically updated. Do you know any software that does this? Please let me know.

this might not answer ur question, but if u use a usb scanner then it will scan straight into quickbooks exactly as if u typed it into the software with a keyboard.

if u mean a portble data capture of some description then i dont know, i only really have experience of tills and sage :(

hope that helps xxx

Hi,
Bar code scanners are just an extension of the keyboard, either in USB, serial or Keyboard wedge.
What you need to do with the scanner is to tell it, when you scan a barcode to add a TILDA, in before the barcode numbers are put into Quickbooks.
The TILDA is the " ~ " on the keyboard.
This tells Quickbooks to expect a set of numbers and treat them as a barcode.
The configuration of the barcode scanner depends on brand, model etc, but usually you have a configuration sheet you scan in to tell the handset to insert the TILDA.

We use blue tooth scanners for some of our customers, these can have a very long distance from the base station if required, depending on model, etc.

We also recommend a mob who do Windward's System Five POS Software.
They are at http://wws5.com/

Hope this helps

Kind Regards
Paul
